The Delta Blues
Well it has been a while since I posted so I thought I should pull my finger out. I had been looking for a decent delta wing type aircraft, and actually had my eyes on an Elebee, but I could not get my hands on one. Then I stumbled across a site that was selling these cool looking EPP deltas. The site is http://www.tayloredtech.biz and although was not as big as the delta I wanted, I decided to order one anyway. There are a few options to choose from, but as I enjoy building things, I bought the flat pack and built the thing myself.
The entire thing is held together by hot glue, including the servos and aileron hinges. All instructions are supplied and there are some build videos on the web site to make life easy. The build was a piece of cake and although I don't have the maiden on video, I can tell you that it just flew. Little trim required and handled like a gem. I have now flown it in a breeze and she is a lump of fun!
There is a bunch of different options you can use for motors and after much thought I decided on an E-Watts 2000kv outrunner turning a 7x5 prop, on a 3S 1800mAh battery. Let me tell you, this combination puts out far more energy than the airframe can handle... well almost. It gets to a point that the bird is traveling far too fast and so must be only gunned to wide open throttle for short periods, or you may find yourself traveling toward something solid at a rapid rate of knots.
The video below is a taste, but I hope to get some more video to show you what she is really like. Thanks go out to Mrs Mongrel for the paint job.
